Current Openings 

TGNC/NB Community Organizer

The New York Transgender Advocacy Group (NYTAG) is seeking a TGNC/NB Community Organizer to assist NYTAG in getting the community invovled in Transgender, Gender Non-Confroming, & Non-binary (TGNC/NB) advoacy. Through growing membership, creating partnerships, and hosting inclusive TGNC/NB events. This TGNC/NB Community Organizer position will operate as a key member of NYTAG and will take primary responsibility for community development, mobilisation, and engagement of stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain databases of community members, coalitions, and other community organizations, including contact information and interactions.

  • Serve as initial point of contact for assigned community entities and work with appropriate NYTAG departments to increase engagement with/ attendance of NYTAG events.

  • Visit assigned local entities to offer assistance, information and communications that are beneficial to the entities and its constituents.

  • Provide solutions to assigned entities by maintaining awareness of governmental regulations, policies and current socio-political events.

  • Communicate and engage with the TGNCNB community members and other community organizations to further promote NYTAG’s strategic goals.

  • Coordinate community engagement activities with NYTAG community members, coalitions and other community organizations including training/facilitation, consulting, research, presentations, strategic networking, etc.

  • Foster relationships with community organizations to build awareness of and promote NYTAG’s policies, initiatives and activities

  • Represent NYTAG at member, civic, community and public events to further NYTAG’s mission through strategic engagement

  • Utilize best practices to provide and improve services to local governmental entities, chambers of commerce and other community organizations

Qualifications: The successful candidate will have:

  • Passion for NYTAG’s mission and an unwavering commitment to ensuring quality programs and excellence in organizational and project management;

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Transgender, gendernonconforming, and nonbinary political discourse.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (e.g. Word & Excel);

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail;

  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to manage, and cultivate/maintain solid working relationships with colleagues and co-workers, funders and partners at local and national levels

  • A professional and resourceful style with the ability to work independently and as a team player.

Operations Associate

New York Transgender Advocacy Group (NYTAG) is looking for a Operations Associate who will have two primary functions. The associate plays a central role in coordinating all internal systems and general operational support practices for our fast-paced organization 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate all scheduling (e.g. senior staff calendars, staff meetings, staff travel, meetings w/ elected officials, & partner collaboration)

  • Run all grant compliance w/ Executive Director & assist in funder relations

  • Process monthly credit card and expense reports for the administration department.

  • Manage office activities, including purchasing and supply requests; maintain and update inventory records.

  • Assist in updating budgets and other financial documents

Qualifications: The successful candidate will have:

  • Passion for NYTAG’s mission and an unwavering commitment to ensuring quality programs and excellence in organizational and project management;

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (e.g. Word & Excel);

  • Prepare and modify documents including correspondence, drafts, memos, action lists and emails;

  • Manage calendar for building events. Schedule and coordinate meetings and appointments;

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail;

  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to manage, and cultivate/maintain solid working relationships with colleagues and co-workers, funders and partners at local and national levels;

  • A professional and resourceful style with the ability to work independently and as a team player.

Internship & Volunteer Opportunities

The New York Transgender Advocacy Group (NYTAG) relies heavily on volunteers and interns to produce programming that will help us advance the lives of TGNCNB individuals. NYTAG provides a wealth of options to allow you to give back.

Volunteers

Volunteers are the backbone of our organization and we are deeply grateful to those who offer their time to help us achieve our goals.  Volunteer opportunities have included (not exhaustive):

  • Engaging in administrative tasks

  • Hosting fundraisers

  • Staffing special events

  • Mentoring our peer advocates

Internship

Interns come from an array of disciplines and courses of study. From Social Work to Business, students are offered the opportunity to apply what they learn in the classroom to a real world setting where their contributions are a vital part of a rapidly growing advocacy organization.

  • Produce a White Paper on issues the TGNCNB community faces

  • Conduct a needs assessment

  • Supervise a leadership meeting

  • Facilitate a sensitivity training to service providers
